This fertile land attracted early settlers from Virginia, North Carolina and the East who brought with them a high degree of education and culture. Remarkable in their achievements as artists and craftsmen, they put down roots to blend a political, economic and social environment unique, perhaps, only to Logan County.

As one of Kentucky's oldest counties, Logan's long and colorful history includes four Kentucky governors, famous and infamous heroes and a legacy of historic sites and events. It is the home of one of seven Shaker communities open to the public nationwide. It is where the Great Revival of 1800 began, where the Confederate Government of Kentucky was organized, where Andrew Jackson fought a duel and where the legendary Jesse James robbed a bank. Or, did he just get the credit his gang should have gotten?

As you will discover while viewing the information housed on our website, this represents only a sampling of the rich heritage of Logan County.
