Auburn is Born

Woodville seems to be the early name of the community prior to the coming of the railroad in 1859. So named because of a prominant citizen, Harrison Wood. Later the community gradually began to grow and was given the name of Auburn by A. J. Corning after his home town of Auburn, New York. Incorporation took place in 1865.
